Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve posted but I have been in hospital and quite unwell. Anywaaaay, I’m back again and on the mend! Not Like My Mother is doing well, and I’ve had some great feedback from readers. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read my little book and to let me know how moved you have been by the story. It means a lot to know that I have connected with my readers.
Not Like My Mother came about after many years of research and I thought I might share some of the photos from one of my trips to Bosnia. The images I have posted below really highlight the contrasting reality of Bosnia. There’s photos of an apartment building in Sarajevo that still carries the scars of the Sarajevo siege. However, you will also see the Bosnia that I fell in love with when I first visited there when I was four, places like Baščaršija (the old bazar in Sarajevo) Kamenica, and a couple of the beautiful rivers that meander through the green Bosnian hills. There’s a purity that still exists there and it is this Bosnia that I encourage you to look for if you’re ever lucky enough to visit.
Best to all,
P.S Look out for my upcoming interview with Favel Parrett who was short-listed for this year’s Miles Franklin Award.
